How to install packages in Ubuntu linux

source of this document: http://shubuntu.blogspot.com

In Ubuntu, you can install packages in many ways. You can either use command line instructions in terminal or you can use the synaptic package manager for adding/removing packages.

There’s another way! You can do so from your web browser (like firefox etc.). Just visit http://appnr.com and here you’ll find all the necessary softwares, categorized according to need. Just click on the software you need, it will be installed to your system. Sounds easy? It really is!

Well, there’s another way! You can directly install any package with the help of your browser. On the address bar, write apt: and then the name of the software you want. For example, suppose you want to install VLC medial player; then write apt:vlc. Then it’ll be installed. It seems little bit like the command line, but it’s far easier as long as you know the package name. This particular feature is available in all the versions following ubuntu 7.10.

a bit research direction

I have been doing the literature review throughout the term to get myself ready for research from the May 1st. Again, I couldn't finish the target. Now the final exams and projects are approaching so I doubt I will get time to do that before May 1st. I've been thinking about the NSERC grant for the last two days. As I now have the immigration/PR of Canada, I am eligible to apply. However, its very competitive, specially in the big schools to get into the department selection list. I do really hope that I will be able to make it. It needs average course grade of A-. To date, I've the grade to apply however, just wondering for this term. I've to get good grades at least 80% in all the courses.
Pray for me guys... Its 3 am. Good night.

A new week

Today, I woke up in a sunny beatuiful morning but thinking that the new week is from tomorrow i felt bad. Moreover, I've to read the complex chapters from Cormen book about NP-completeness before going to the next class. In the last class, I didn't quite understand the things. I thought I would understand these once I read the book but I was being lazy to read the book in the weekend. Now I will have to do something to cope up with the class. Oh.. God help me. If I look back, I spent a lot of time to request my friends to write on my blog in the weekend. I do really hope that this will be paid off. Come on my friends write something:)..

India Vs NewZealand

Will India be able to make a draw?

Malayasian Food first time

Today, I decided to have Malyasian food. It was nice. Its called "sea food with fried rice". Thanks Hammad for the lunch. My comment will be malayasians like sweet type of food. I dont know in detial though. What do you think guys? but one thing is obvious, they eat a lot of sea food. Other than sea food there was only one item (chicken).

I have been trying various foods these days, I tried Japanese twice in the last week. I really loved Sushi:). Often, I do try Indian and chinese. Last night, I had chinese. Chinese is good and cheap but to me Indian food is the best as its quite the same food that I used to have in my home country. Jai ho:)..
